Why Facebook? Why Not?!

Recently, I have been working on a project to launch the beginning of a social media campaign for a client. I have enjoyed introducing and educating various small business owners to Facebook and why this is a vital marketing tool for any company, of any size.

Some don’t see the merit, but I’ve relished explaining how this is a proven method to drive traffic and ultimately, sales to their store, restaurant or service business. It is where their audience is, and they are listening. The key is to connect and engage with them, and then promote your message or business accordingly.

Consider these 2011 statistics from Online Schools: More than 71% of the U.S. is on Facebook; 48% of those 18 to 34 years old check Facebook first thing in the morning; while the 35 and older age range is the fastest growing group on Facebook, now representing 30% of Facebook users.

Social media, and Facebook in particular, is where your customer is; they are listening and engaging with others. So you need to ask yourself, what is the message you want to convey and how are you sharing it? Are you giving people something to talk about and share? Are you interacting with your audience and seeing the results? If the answer is no, or you aren’t sure, give me a call.
