OC Social Media Summit Draws Hundreds

Some of Orange County’s biggest and brightest social media influencers — as well as those new to social media — recently gathered at the first-ever Orange County Social Media Summit (#OCSMS) to connect, teach and learn from each other the latest about social media. Spearheaded by sisters and social media rock stars Rochelle Veturis Coles and Haley Veturis (with help from another Veturis sister, Chelsey, as well as Ted Nguyen and many others), it was a fun day of networking and sharing what apps, tools and other tricks of the trade work for them to promote their businesses, non-profit organizations and other ventures.

Nearly 700 people attended the OC Social Media Summit an as a PR professional, I can’t wait for next year’s event. Although pubic relations is, and always will be, based on our relationships with the client and media, it is also an ever-evolving field, and one in which we professionals must constantly adapt. We must adapt to changing technology and take advantage of new avenues to reach our audience.

By connecting and engaging with an audience – be it media, consumers or another business — I have found success in garnering publicity, generating buzz about an event, influenced shoppers and diners, and more… and so can you. Listen, engage and connect!

Here is more on the OC Social Media Summit from the OC Register.
